What we collect, and why.
We sell industrial machines. We don't sell data, we don't run advertising trackers, and there's nothing here we couldn't explain to you in a sentence.
Last updated 14 August 2026
The short version. To sell you a machine we need your name, your contact details and somewhere to deliver it. We keep that for as long as the law requires us to keep sales records, and we use it to fulfil your order and to answer you when you get in touch.
We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone. We don't run advertising or behavioural tracking. There's no account to create, so we're not holding a password or a browsing history against your name.
Rather not read the rest? Email privacy@factoryrobots.net and ask us anything — including for a copy of everything we hold about you, or for it to be deleted.
Who to contact
Factory Robots operates this site and is the data controller for everything described here. For anything to do with your data, email privacy@factoryrobots.net. We'll acknowledge within one working day and resolve requests within thirty days.
What we collect
When you place an order
- Your name and the company you're ordering for
- Email address and phone number
- Billing address and delivery address
- What you bought, when, and for how much
- Anything you tell us about the delivery site
We never see your card details. Payment is handled by our payment processor and the card number goes directly to them. What reaches us is confirmation the payment succeeded, the last four digits and the card type.
When you contact us
Whatever you put in the form or the email — usually a name, an email address and a description of what you're trying to do. Technical enquiries often include site photos, layouts or part drawings. We use those to answer you, and we don't share them.
When you're just browsing
- Your IP address, browser and device type, in server logs
- Which pages you looked at and how you arrived
- What's in your basket, so it's still there when you return
Why we're allowed to hold it
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Order and delivery details | To sell you the machine and get it to you | Performance of a contract |
| Sales and tax records | Because we're required to keep them | Legal obligation |
| Enquiry correspondence | To answer you, and to remember what we advised | Legitimate interests |
| Security and server logs | To keep the site working and stop abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Analytics | To see which pages are useful | Consent |
Who else touches it
A short list, and every one is a supplier acting on our instructions rather than a partner we've shared your data with.
- Our hosting providerRuns the servers and holds the database, including order records.
- Our payment processorTakes the payment. They handle your card, not us.
- Freight carriersYour name, delivery address and phone number, so they can deliver a pallet and call if there's a problem. Nothing else.
- Customs authoritiesThe commercial invoice for cross-border shipments, because they require it.
- Our email providerSends order confirmations and carries our correspondence with you.
- AnalyticsOnly if you've agreed to it. See cookies below.
We don't sell personal data, we don't rent it, and we don't hand it to advertisers. If we're ever legally compelled to disclose something — a court order, a tax investigation — we'll tell you unless we're forbidden from doing so.
Sending data abroad
We ship worldwide, so some of the suppliers above operate outside the UK and the EEA. Where personal data leaves those areas it's protected by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard. Ask which mechanism applies to a particular supplier and we'll tell you.
Cookies
This site sets as few as it can function with.
Necessary Always on
- Basket and session — remembers what you've added and keeps you attached to the right basket through checkout. Without these the shop doesn't work.
- Security — protects forms and the login from abuse.
- A short-lived store of the product categories, kept in your browser for ten minutes so the menus load quickly. It contains category names and nothing about you.
Analytics Your choice
If you accept them, we use analytics to see which pages people read and where they give up. It's aggregate reporting, not individual tracking, and it's never used for advertising. Decline and the site works identically.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking the necessary ones will break the basket.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Order records and invoices | Seven years, as tax law requires |
| Enquiries that didn't become orders | Two years, then deleted |
| Warranty and support correspondence | The warranty period plus two years |
| Server logs | Ninety days |
| Analytics | Fourteen months |
Your rights
Whatever the law where you are, we'll honour all of these. Ask by emailing privacy@factoryrobots.net — there's no form and no fee.
- See itA copy of everything we hold about you.
- Correct itIf something's wrong, tell us and we'll fix it.
- Delete itSubject to records we're legally required to keep.
- Take it elsewhereIn a machine-readable format.
- ObjectTo anything we do on the basis of legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consentFor anything you agreed to, at any time.
If we get it wrong and you're not satisfied with how we handled it, you can complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK that's the Information Commissioner's Office. We'd rather you came to us first, but it's your right either way.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to order data is limited to people who need it to do their job. Card details never reach our systems. Hosting is managed and patched by the provider.
No system is perfect. If we ever suffer a breach that puts your data at risk, we'll tell you and the relevant authority within the timeframes the law sets.
Children
This is a business-to-business store selling industrial equipment. It isn't intended for anyone under 18 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll email you rather than rely on you noticing.
Your data
Ask and we'll act on it.
A copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. One email, no form to complete, no fee, and no attempt to talk you out of it.
